Real Access for Women to Join the Digital Economy
👩💻With the fastest growing digital economies, ASEAN was being congratulated for having the involvement of women in the digital world. An increasing number of women who got access to technology, however, are still struggling to participate in a higher position in the field of STEM. They were being limited to advanced technologies and did not appear to be in any high professions. If we look at the entrepreneur sector, women-owned small enterprises that require low skills technology and were not able to compete in the digital market. Being present in the digital sector is one, but being able to be in a leadership position is another. Research done by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN (ERIA) stated that those companies with more females in higher positions were more creative and innovative. This proves the point that women should be more involved in the advanced technology sector and the leadership position.
